Japan Seismic Activity
In order to understand Japan's earthquakes activity, let's look up at this picture. The island of Japan is surrender by major tectonic plates like the Pacific Plate, the Philippine Plate, the Asian Plate (see attached bellow); making Japan one of the most active earthquakes zone in the world.
Just to have a wider idea of how active this island can be; Japan can registered up to 1,500 earthquakes per year. One of worst earthquakes ever registered in Japan was the 9.0 (March 2011) that triggered a tsunami that killed thousands of people and damaged some nuclear reactors. After a big earthquake it is completely normal to have after-shocks because the tectonic plates are readjusting the stress along the fault. After shocks depend on the quake intensity, in the event of a 9.0 earthquake, the aftershocks will range between 5.0-7.0 (on the Richter Scale).
According to the USGS (United States Geological Survey)"Plate tectonics tells us that the Earth's rigid outer shell (lithosphere) is broken into a mosaic of oceanic and continental plates which can slide over the plastic aesthenosphere, which is the uppermost layer of the mantle. The plates are in constant motion. Where they interact, along their margins, important geological processes take place, such as the formation of mountain belts, earthquakes, and volcanoes."

Hello fellow classmates,
This is an outdated form! This morning, most of you signed a form that was outdated, therefore today’s signatures are void. What does this mean? It means – ”not to sign” any blank documents!!!! The college is only looking out for themselves. The college is not presenting updated information about the trip.
We haven’t had any safety training about the trip. This trip is poorly plan and lacks planning. I lost total confidence in this trip!
Rule number # 1. Your safety is very important! It just seems that Bakersfield College doesn’t give a damm about it!
YEE HAH! HELLO THERE KERN COUNTY STUDENTS, my name is Enrique and I am cowboy philosopher…… I got more wisdom than 40 Indians, i got more skills than 20 Texas cowboys, i got more elusiveness than 10 Sheriff deputies, and more honesty than 5 smart ass crooks. I love math, but i hate to read books. Today, I’m going to discuss TRIP SAFETY in a creative way!
ReplyDeleteSafety tip to the beautiful ladies:
Ladies make sure your tires are properly inflated, make sure your radiator has proper coolant levels, check your oil, and tell your boyfriend to fully inspect your car,
If your boyfriend refuses to help you inspect your car, tell him, “See yah later!!” and hit your boyfriend with a crow-bar!! YEE HAH!
Safety tip to the ugly gentlemen:
Gentlemen, If your girlfriend refuses to prepare you a good delicious road trip lunch,
Come Christmas time…. Instead of buying an expensive gift for your girlfriend, buy her a full season espisodes of family show called, “The Brady Bunch” Then you get on your girlfriend’s nerves and sing the theme song, “ It’s story of a lovely lady, who couldn’t cook me a good lunch….. so i decided to go to the mall and buy a her a cheap gift……. called, “The Brady Bunch! “Yee Hah!
Well students don’t forget to think about trip preparation, just remember, it’s better to be safe than in a dangerous situation! YEE HAH! , YEE HAH

Holy cow, 1500 earthquakes. A very unfortunate place to have tons of people crowded into one area. Best to luck for future earthquakes.
